Thing 1 was moving to Spain, Thing 2 is writing about it. That’s what life is isn’t it, trying to do the things we say we’ll do someday?
Moving from the UK to Spain is, pretty much, as good as it sounds. But with many very large rocks, ravines and contemplations along the way. I hope you’ll stick around for a bit as I pick my way through.
I’m Sai, a British Indian who has been living in Valencia, Spain for a couple of years. For a while, I’ve been trying to figure out where to put all my thinky thoughts about moving from London to Valencia, and well, it’s taken a while. I don’t think there’ll be anything too profound here – it’s not new, millions of people emigrate and immigrate every year – but it is absolutely earth-shifting for every single person who does it.
So I’m writing it down and I’m hoping that it turns out to be better than just a brain fart.
(Note: a brain fart is, according to the Cambridge Dictionary, “a rude word for a stupid mistake or idea, or for a moment of forgetting something or being confused”. How cute that they called it ‘rude’, how quaint, gosh I miss England)
